The Mindful Life Project Team
Our team is composed of a cohort of instructors, who teach mindfulness-based social-emotional learning lessons at our partner schools, and a core team which provides the necessary capacity to support the organization.
Founder and Executive Director
In my 10 years in education before creating Mindful Life Project I was a PlayWorks Site Coordinator, Classroom Teacher at Coronado Elementary in Richmond for seven years, community advocate/organizer, mentor, and coach. All of these experiences with the young people in Richmond and Oakland inspired me and taught me the deepest lessons of my life which then in turn created Mindful Life Project. I deeply found the need to bring mindfulness based social emotional learning to our youth and educators so to create the healthiest and most empowering educational ecosystems in communities that are most effected by systems of oppression and institutionalized racism. One of my passions is being a very present and connected father to my beautiful children.
COO and CFO
After graduating from Berkeley High School, I was a scholarship student-athlete at Stanford University. After a short career playing Major League Baseball for the Colorado Rockies I naturally progressed into coaching at the high school and NCAA levels. I decided to join MLP as Director of Development and Operations, while on the Advisory Board at the inception of MLP, one school site visit to witness our programs in action gave me a vision of MLP's potential. It was clear that mindfulness, and the engaging way MLP delivers it, gives students the ability to notice, understand, and navigate their emotions and experiences which is cultivating happier, and more empowered students and holistic, compassionate and effective learning environments. I love exploring the outdoors and music.
Director of HR and Culture
I worked at Washington Elementary as a school secretary for the last 7 years. I saw the benefits of mindfulness happening at Washington and I used it myself in the office. I'd use it when the kids came in with an injury - remember your mindful breathing. They knew exactly what I was talking about. I’m passionate about my family, cooking pasta and old movies.
