Mindful Educator Training: Mindful Life Project (MLP) has been serving youth for five years with innovative, engaging, relevant, and inspiring mindfulness programs. This two day Mindful Life Educator Training will provide people who work with youth the opportunity to receive training on MLP's TK-2nd grade curriculum and 3rd-8th grade curriculum. Included in this training, we will be teaching best practices: creating a safe and trusting space, classroom management, engaging ways to get classrooms to focus, culturally relevant pedagogy, daily practice activities, mindfulness games and much more! Our curricula have reached over 25,000 students and has proven to weave mindfulness and social-emotional learning with a deep sense of empowerment.

Programs: Mindful Life Project has four distinct programs that it delivers. These four programs were created specifically for the needs of underserved students and teachers in Richmond, CA. With a proven track record MLP has scaled certain programs out of Richmond and seeing success. However, each community is different, and should have programs that address the specific needs. We want to support you in using our approach but making it authentic to your community.
Curriculum: Mindful Life Project has a Transitional kindergarten through second grade curriculum as well as a third grade through eighth grade curriculum. These year long curricula are engaging, relevant, and have been taught to tens of thousands of students. We can provide you with these curriculum and the resources but also support adapting them to your specific population. You will be able to take our curriculum and make it your own so that it comes from an authentic place when teaching it. We believe that being able to teach mindfulness is key, but just as important is having best teaching practices to create a safe, trusting, authentic, and compassionate teaching that provides students with high expectations, and well understood procedures and expectations. We will support you in creating best teaching practices so that the mindfulness content can be most impactful.
Implementation: Every school is different. We know that some schools have more buy-in than others, and that you might be the only social-emotional learning resource, or you might be one of many. We believe that mindfulness in schools should be a right for all children. We also know that top down systemic change rarely means students and teachers will benefit. In just a few years, Mindful Life Project went from seeing mindfulness not being wanted in the school district to being highly sought after. Mindful Life Project will support the process starting with teachers, principals, and schools to then making districts begin to support and value your work.
Creating a Financial Plan: Bringing any direct services to the regular school day can be hard enough even when it is free. Creating a programmatic and financial sustainable model is key. Schools should always have some investment in any programs they have. However, most schools that have the biggest need for support programs usually have the least amount of money to spend. Creating different funding streams becomes crucial. If you are doing this as your main job, and you are building an organization, creating individual donor base, foundation support, and corporate support is crucial. We will support you along the way to look for potential funders, and support you on grant writing. Over the last five years Mindful Life Project has found ways to reach many different funding streams and we want to help you spend more time on programs and less on finding money.
Measuring Impact/Sharing Data: Mindful Life Project has several ways it measures impact and will share these methods as well as provide fellows with all of our data so they can use it to approach schools and funders. With five years of success with two regular school day direct service programs, we want to support your creation of specific programs that best fit your community.
